ConjunçõesConjunctions and ClausesA1–A2

Conjunctions join words, sentences and ideas. They show whether you are adding, contrasting, giving a cause or explaining a result. Mastering this group makes your English sound more natural, and it is essential for essays in entrance exams, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System). As conjunções ligam palavras, frases e ideias. Comma

A comma usually goes before the conjunction when it joins two complete sentences: It was late, so we went home. Do not use a comma when it joins two single words: tea or coffee.Normalmente se usa vírgula antes da conjunção quando ela liga duas orações completas: It was late, so we went home.

A2 Subordinating conjunctions

Subordinating conjunctions introduce a clause that depends on the main clause. This clause can come first (with a comma) or second (usually without a comma). With contrast clauses (although, even though, whereas), a comma is common even when they come second: We stayed, although it was late.
