Most, Most Of, The Most

Most, Most Of e The MostArticles, Nouns, Pronouns and DeterminersA2

“A maioria das pessoas” is most people, not “the most of people”. In English, most, most of and the most do three different jobs, and choosing the right one is easier than it looks.“A maioria das pessoas” é most people, e não “the most of people”. Em inglês, most, most of e the most têm três funções diferentes, e escolher a certa é mais fácil do que parece.

A2 Most + noun: talking in general

When we talk about people or things in general, we use most directly before the noun, with no the and no of. The noun is plural or uncountable.Quando falamos de pessoas ou coisas em geral, usamos most direto antes do substantivo, sem the e sem of. O substantivo fica no plural ou é incontável.

Traduza a ideia, não as palavras: most people, most students, most days.

A2 Most of + the / my / this / them

When we talk about a specific group, we use most of. After of comes a determiner (the, my, these, this…), an object pronoun (them, us, it) or a proper name.Quando falamos de um grupo específico, usamos most of. Depois de of vem um determinante (the, my, these, this…), um pronome objeto (them, us, it) ou um nome próprio.
