Key vocabulary
Refugee, asylum seeker or displaced person?
These words are not synonyms, and delegates who mix them up lose credibility. The difference is whether the person has crossed a border and what their legal situation is.Estas palavras não são sinônimos, e o delegado que as confunde perde credibilidade. A diferença está em a pessoa ter atravessado ou não uma fronteira e em qual é a sua situação legal.

Native speakers use fixed word partners, called collocations. We tackle a problem and reduce emissions; we don’t “fight against the climate change”. Learn the whole group, not just the noun.Os falantes nativos usam combinações fixas de palavras, chamadas collocations. A gente diz tackle (enfrentar) um problema e reduce (reduzir) emissões; não se diz “fight against the climate change”. Aprenda o grupo inteiro, e não só o substantivo.
| Collocation | Example | Português |

The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)
In 2015, all UN member states adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals, with 2030 as the target year. Delegates often mention them by number: SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 13 (Climate Action). Linking your proposal to an SDG makes it sound serious and well researched.Em 2015, todos os Estados-membros da ONU adotaram 17 Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), com 2030 como prazo. Os delegados costumam citá-los pelo número: ODS 2 (Fome Zero), ODS 4 (Educação de Qualidade), ODS 5 (Igualdade de Gênero), ODS 13 (Ação Contra a Mudança Global do Clima). Ligar a sua proposta a um ODS faz com que ela soe séria e bem pesquisada.
